Vasco Seabra, coach of Arouca, speaks of “resilience,” after the team broke a negative streak of six defeats, before visiting the Azores to face Santa Clara, a match of the 15th round of the League scheduled for 8:30 pm next Sunday.
We brought an end to a cycle we didn’t want and always showed resilience and confidence in the process. There were celebrations on the day, a sense of responsibility immediately afterwards to do more and better, week after week, to achieve what we set out to do. I hope in a few weeks to talk here about a series of consecutive victories, and even then I won’t say we’re perfect.
It made us stronger. We didn’t stay on the ground in despair, playing the victim. That’s not the spirit of this club. We always fought tooth and nail to change the situation. Winning is wonderful, and we have to do everything to keep this place.
“A traditionally difficult pitch and a tough, very combative team, capable of playing in different systems.
“Our opponents recognize our process and quality. I don’t feel they approach the game with more self-confidence because they consider us weak. They have always faced us with a high level of focus and concentration, and I have always shown confidence in the squad.
“They give other things besides goals, but I want them to get the cherry on top of the cake.
Mateo Flores and Amadou Danté are the only absentees for this match.
