The English manager was in the Everton dressing room after the victory over United, and images are fueling speculation about the midfielder’s future.

Thomas Tuchel, the England manager, was present at Old Trafford for Everton’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Monday night and took the opportunity to speak with two English players.

In this regard, Everton published a video on social media this Tuesday showing the German coach talking separately with James Garner and Jack Grealish in the tunnel leading to the locker rooms.

The shared images have been causing quite a stir, especially regarding Grealish, generating much speculation about a possible return of the Englishman to the national team. In the video, Tuchel is seen putting his arm around the midfielder and leading him to a corner where they talk.

The meeting comes just days after former England international Wayne Rooney stated emphatically that the midfielder would not be in the coach’s plans for the 2026 World Cup.

“Jack Grealish might as well book his summer vacation now, because he’s not going to be in the squad. Anthony Gordon fell and even then he wasn’t called up, so it seems to me that Thomas Tuchel is pretty decided,” he said on his own podcast. Jack Grealish has been sidelined from the national team since October 2024. The 30-year-old midfielder arrived at Everton this summer on loan from Manchester City, after losing his place at the Citizens in recent seasons. At the Toffees, the scenario has changed: he is a regular starter, has scored one goal and provided four assists, and was named Premier League Player of the Month for August.
