The Portuguese international forward is dealing with a mix of feelings about returning to Porto.
André Silva is FC Porto’s latest signing for the upcoming season . After nine years abroad, the Portuguese international is returning to the club from the undefeated city.
The 30-year-old forward did not hide his excitement at being back home and guaranteed that he will give his all to win games and become national champion.
It’s a mix of feelings, a very strong nostalgia and emotion. I’m living in the past and the future at the same time, remembering and dreaming. It’s wonderful to experience all of this that’s happening, he began by saying to the club’s official media.
Interest from FC Porto? I was very emotional. It’s very special to me. Since I left FC Porto, I’ve always carried that passion with me, which grew with me. At the same time, I tried to distance myself to follow my own path and distance myself emotionally, but it became so impossible that sooner or later I had to return. Everything happened at the right time and I’m very happy.
Andre revealed that he spoke briefly with Francesco Farioli, the coach of the blue and whites, before returning. We had a short conversation, before I could be here. It was around the time FC Porto showed interest and the opportunity arose.
Furthermore, the Dragons’ new striker has clearly defined objectives: Of course, winning and becoming national champions is a goal and a requirement at this club. This is the most important club in Portugal, that’s our path, it’s part of who we are. I want to help ensure that, while I’m here, we can win titles.
There was still time to leave a message for the Porto fans. I’m back and incredibly proud to fight for us, for you, and for everyone who represents this club. Blue and white is in my heart.
