The San Antonio Spurs qualified for the NBA Western Conference Finals after a 139-109 victory in Game 6 of the semifinals (4-2) against the Minnesota Timberwolves early this morning.
Coming off a home win by a significant margin, the San Antonio team won every quarter and featured Stephon Castle in outstanding form, with a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds. Also for the visiting team, De’Aaron Fox contributed 21 points, four rebounds, and nine assists, while Victor Wembanyama added 19 points. For the home team, Anthony Edwards stood out with 24 points.
For the first time since 2017, the Spurs are back in a conference final, where they will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champions.
In the Eastern Conference, it is yet to be decided who will be the New York Knicks’ opponent.
The Detroit Pistons won 115-94 on their visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers, tying the series at 3-3 and forcing a deciding game, scheduled for early Monday morning.
James Harden of the Cavs led in points with 23. Cade Cunningham of Detroit scored 21.
