Lookman and Sorloth build Madrid’s triumph in Pamplona.

With some controversy mixed in, Atletico de Madrid won in Pamplona against Osasuna (2-1) , in the 36th round of the Spanish League, and kept alive their objective of finishing the championship on the podium. As for the Basques, they are not yet safe in the fight to avoid relegation.

The game opened with a penalty conceded by Javi Galan for handling the ball inside his own area, which was awarded with the help of VAR. Ademola Lookman converted the penalty , putting Atletico Madrid ahead(15m).

The first half also saw two injuries, to Rodrigo Mendoza [Atlético] and Raul Moro [Osasuna], and a penalty was overturned in favor of the home team. After reviewing the footage, referee Jose Mansilla determined that the Madrid goalkeeper, Juan Musso, only punched the ball after a cross, avoiding contact with Ante Budimir.

For the second half, Diego Simeone brought on Alexander Sorloth to replace Thiago Almada, and the Norwegian striker made it 2-0 in the 71st minute, assisted by Marcos Llorente, who would be sent off eight minutes later.
