Sporting Braga footballer Victor Gomez is included in Spain’s preliminary squad for the 2026 World Cup, being one of several standout players this season to be included in the list of 55 names submitted to FIFA by Monday.According to the Spanish press, the list of 55 also includes names such as Víctor Munoz (Osasuna), Alberto Moleiro (Villarreal) and Jorge de Frutos (Rayo Vallecano). The final list of 26 players will be announced on May 25th.
A young international for Spain, 26-year-old Víctor Gómez is in his fourth season at Braga, having his best season in terms of games (55), goals (three, his only ones for the club) and ten assists, almost as many as in the total of the previous three years (12).
For his position, Victor Gomez’s most likely options in the final squad are former Sporting player Pedro Porro or Marcos Llorente, from Atletico de Madrid, but his presence in this provisional group of players speaks to the good form Gomez is in at Braga.
