Alverca’s coach says that no amount of money is more important than the fans’ recognition.
In response to the draw between Alverca and Estoril ( 1-1 ), in the last game for the Ribatejo team at home, Custodio Castro wanted to quell the rumors of his departure.
Game analysis
A good first half, Estoril is a difficult team because of the overlapping lines they use. They have a lot of technical quality in their players. We started the second half badly, conceding a goal that was quite deserved. We were limited because some of our players played in the Portuguese Championship, for Alverca B. Ikker makes his debut today, which makes us very happy. The recognition from the fans was good; there are higher values than just the financial aspect. We all worked very hard to ensure that Alverca stayed in the first division.
Physically, we weren’t as strong. We had to use Diogo Spencer within the physical limits we set. He had some impact on the team. That’s what we lacked. Playing against teams like Estoril demands a lot of physical exertion.
Interest from other clubs
This won’t be my last game. We still have Famalicão. Many times journalists say: ‘I know from a reliable source…’ that’s nonsense. You have to check your sources. I’m very upfront and there’s nothing against other clubs. Recognition is very important. No amount of money in this offer I received is worth as much as the recognition from the fans at the end of the game. Next season is next season.
