That’s more or less what the players, coaching staff, management and fans of Villa San Carlos thought after conceding a goal in the 90+7 minute, which resulted in a 1-0 defeat away to Talleres de Remedios de Escalada in the third tier of Argentine football.

It all started with a lapse in concentration from goalkeeper Akimenco, who placed the ball on the ground without noticing Eugenio Olivera behind him.

The Talleres forward stole the ball from him and shot towards the Villa San Carlos goal, where two defenders got in each other’s way and ended up scoring one of the most surreal own goals of the year.
