Former defender owns the 10th=placed team in the Spanish second division.
Gerard Pique ended his career as a professional player in 2023, but remains in the spotlight, now as the owner of Andorra. The club is in 10th place in the Spanish second division and has suffered successive fines due to Piqué’s behavior towards referees. On Sunday, in Andorra, during the defeat against Albacete (1-0), the former defender confronted, chased, and threatened the refereeing team.
As we were heading towards the parking lot, with the security forces present, Mr. Gerard Piqué (…) protested repeatedly (…). And he said: Leave with an escort. In another country you would be beaten, but in Andorra we are civilized, reads the referee’s report.
In light of these incidents, Andorra was fined 1500 euros and is obliged not to open the VIP boxes and area for the next two home games.
Previously, in April, Pique was fined 12,000 euros for another incident with the refereeing team. In December, the fine was 9,000 euros. Because of all this, the disciplinary board of the Spanish second division has already threatened Andorra with a points deduction or the closure of the stadium for two months.
