Now, regarding the renewal of the championship title, do you know what happened to the players who were part of the last championship=winning team?
It happened in 2021-22, with Sergio Conceição at the helm, in a season where they finished six points ahead of Sporting and 17 ahead of Benfica. It was a special season for FC Porto, in fact, as they broke the record for most points ever achieved by a Portuguese team in the league.
That squad included players who made the leap and are now among the best in the world, but there were also others who never lived up to the potential that was expected of them and are now at much more modest clubs.
There are athletes who have already ended their careers, and there are four who remain at Dragao and retained their championship title this year.
Sergio Conceicao, as is well known, was the coach in what was the last championship title he won. Today he coaches Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, without much success.
