Crystal Palace are practically in the Conference League final after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 away in Poland in the first leg of the semi=final of UEFA’s third-tier competition. In the other semi-final, Rayo Vallecano beat Strasbourg 1-0.
We begin in Krakow, the temporary home of Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, where the London team practically started with a win, with Ismaila Sarr opening the scoring in the first minute, immediately putting the English team ahead.
The Donetsk team took a while to respond, but ended up surprisingly equalizing right at the start of the second half with a goal from Ocheretko, assisted by Elias.
However, Japanese player Daichi Kamada proved decisive in the Premier League team’s victory, restoring the lead in the 58th minute before providing the assist for Jorgen Strand Larsen to make it 3-1 in the 84th minute.
The other semi=final, in Vallecas, was more balanced, with many fouls and many yellow cards, but it was the home team that came out on top thanks to a solitary goal from Alexandre Alemao.
