Cup: FC Porto=Sporting, 0-0 (report) | Farioli praises the team’s effort, but notes the Lions’ delay in returning from halftime.
Statements from FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli in the press room at Estadio do Dragao, following the goalless draw against Sporting in the second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi=finals :
In terms of effort, spirit, and level of performance, we played a great game in the first half and even better in the second. But it was a tie where, if we look at both games, we honestly deserved to be in the final without a doubt. Then, there are situations where we could have done better, repetitive situations, and it’s hard to accept. But we know the story well… I’m proud of the team, I think we dominated in the first half and also in the second. An incredible physical performance.
We’re talking about those who waste time, and I think today we got a good picture of who knows how to manage their time. Both when the ball is in play and today, with a 22-minute halftime break. Our fans even set off fireworks when they saw Sporting return, because at one point they were worried they might not see them come back.
What was Kiwior’s intention with the wing position?
Kiwior has already played a few games in that position, he can provide control, quality on the ball, strong physicality, he’s a player who has played there in many games for Arsenal. He can cover different positions, even in a back three, it was to try and have different options to exploit during the game.
