The team from the city of Zalaegerszeg beat Honved on penalties.

Nuno Campos led ZTE to the Hungarian Cup final after a semi=final victory on Tuesday, defeating Honved in a penalty shootout.

The Zalaegerszeg team overcame their second-division opponent after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes. Interestingly, ZTE only took the game to extra time in the 90+3 minute after a goal by João Victor. Alfonso scored the other goal for ZTE.

This is the club’s second final in history, after winning the title in the 2022/23 season. ZTE is currently fourth in the league.

However, they will have a difficult task in the final – Gyor, the league leaders, and Ferencvaros, the perennial Hungarian champions, are contesting the other semi-final. Nuno Campos, who led Tondela to the Portuguese Cup final in 2022, is in his first season at the club.
