Sporting will receive 79.582 million euros for participating in the Champions League; however, the team orchestrated by Rui Borges will not be able to surpass the record for prize money received by a Portuguese team in a single edition of the competition.
Despite the 1-0 defeat in Lisbon against Arsenal and the draw in London , Sporting had never before earned so much money in a Champions League campaign. However, if they were to reach the semi-finals, Sporting would break the Portuguese record, currently set at €80.616 million by FC Porto in the 2018/19 season, a season in which the blue and whites also fell in the quarter=finals against Liverpool. Sporting, on the other hand, surpassed its best record in prize money (48.983 million euros), established last year when it reached the round of 16 after being eliminated by Dortmund.
