Artur Jorge’s Cruzeiro triumphed at home and is now eyeing a safe zone.
Leonardo Jardim’s Flamengo won the match against Fluminense, 2-1, in the 11th round of the Brasileirao. Playing away, Flamengo fielded wingers Samuel Lino (formerly of Gil Vicente) and Plata (formerly of Sporting) and full-back Alex Sandro (formerly of FC Porto) in the starting lineup, while full=back Danilo (formerly of FC Porto) came off the bench in the 81st minute.
After Samuel Lino assisted forward Pedro in the seventh minute for a fantastic goal, the recipe was repeated in the 51st minute. Although midfielder Savarino reduced the deficit in the 76th minute, victory did not escape Fla, who finished the game with ten men following Carrascal’s expulsion in the 90+5th minute. Regarding the reigning champions, Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras drew 0-0 away to Corinthians. Serving a suspension, the coach was not on the Palmeiras bench . Corinthians finished with nine men, as midfielder André was sent off in the 35th minute, a punishment also applied to full=back Matheuzinho in the 71st minute. Even so, Palmeiras were unable to break the deadlock.
Abel Ferreira’s team secured their second draw in the Brasileirão, registering 26 points. Meanwhile, Corinthians is the first team above the relegation zone (16th), with 11 points, one more than Cruzeiro (17th).
Finally, Artur Jorge’s Cruzeiro won at home against Bragantino, 2-1. Although full-back Hurtado put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute, forward Villarreal equalized in the 18th minute. In the second half, winger Christian completed the comeback in the 50th minute.
Back to winning ways, Cruzeiro is the first team in the relegation zone (17th), but only one point away from safety. Bragantino, meanwhile, is ninth, with 14 points.
