It’s official! Benfica announced this Thursday the contract renewal with Daniel Banjaqui.
The 18-year-old right-back has signed a new contract valid until 2031. As Maisfutebol had already reported, the new contract includes a release clause of 80 million euros .
The under-21 international turned 18 on March 24th and was therefore eligible to sign a long-term contract. Similar to what they did with other under-17 world champions, such as Anísio Cabral, Benfica secured one of their youth academy gems, despite interest from European giants.
Banjaqui made his debut this season for Benfica’s first team – he has one assist in three games. In addition, he played for the under-19, under-23 and B teams.
