Portugal matches its 2010/11 achievement.

Portuguese clubs have already achieved their best ever UEFA ranking , and this is only the second time that Portugal has been represented by three teams in the quarter-finals of European competitions.

The last = and only, so far = time that Portugal had three clubs in the “quarter-finals” was in 2010/11. That season, FC Porto, Sporting Braga and Benfica were present in the quarter=finals of the Europa League, which would be won by Porto in Dublin, precisely against Braga, who eliminated Benfica in the semi-final.

If, in 2010/11, all Portuguese teams competing in UEFA competitions were playing in the Europa League, in 2025/26 the scenario is somewhat different. FC Porto and Sp. Braga remain in the second most important European competition, while Benfica has already been eliminated from the Champions League, a competition in which Sporting is still present. Furthermore, Portugal is the only country outside the big-5 that is still represented in the European top-20 .

It should also be noted that the record for points accumulated by the country in a season was previously set at 18,800 and belonged precisely to the 2010/11 season, but, with FC Porto’s victory over Stuttgart (2-0) , Portugal reached 18,900 points.
