Monegasques beat Brest and Riviera team beats Angers

Monaco provisionally moved up to fifth place in the French league after their home win this Saturday against Brest ( 2-0 ), in the 26th round .

Folarin Balogun opened the scoring for Monaco in the 19th minute. In the second half, Aleksandr Golovin (78th minute) scored the second goal for Sébastien Pocognoli’s team.

With this victory, Monaco move closer to the Champions League places, overtaking Rennes (who have one game less) and climbing to fifth place with 43 points. Brest, meanwhile, remain in 10th place with 36 points.

Also on Saturday, Nice, with Portuguese player Tiago Gouveia as an unused substitute, travelled to Angers and won 2-0 , gaining momentum in their fight to avoid relegation.

Melvin Bard broke the deadlock in the 65th minute and, in stoppage time, Elye Wahi (90+6), who had assisted for the 1-0, extended the lead.

With this victory, Nice moves up to 15th place with 24 points, while Angers remains on 32 points and occupies 11th position.
