Elye Wahi arrived in Frankfurt a year ago to represent Eintracht , but he may already have his marching orders to leave the club.

According to the German press, more specifically Bild , the behavior of the 22-year-old forward has not pleased the Eintracht management at all, including coach Dino Toppmoller.

“A €25 million flop,” writes Bild about Wahi: the French under-23 international has only scored one goal this season, in the German Cup, and has yet to score in the Bundesliga , in 18 games, spread over 511 minutes, over almost a year.

The situation worsened last weekend. Wahi was brought on in the 77th minute of Eintracht’s 4-3 victory against Cologne , but his careless and completely detached behavior on the pitch seems to have definitively exhausted Toppmoller’s patience.

“We need to talk about the players who came on and didn’t justify the playing time they were given,” the coach said at the end of the match, in a message primarily directed at Wahi.

According to Bild, a separation between the parties is “inevitable” as early as next January, when the transfer market reopens.

Elye Wahi, it should be noted, was linked to Benfica in the summer of 2023 as a possible successor to Gonçalo Ramos in the attack of Roger Schmidt’s team at the time. He played for Montpellier then.

“We learned on Wednesday that Benfica are interested in Wahi because their striker [Gonçalo Ramos] is leaving. Therefore, we are in no hurry. The player has expressed a desire to leave and we have reached an agreement with his agents to work together on a possible sale,” said Montpellier’s president, Laurent Nicollin, to RCM Sport at the time .
