The federation is also considering restructuring the Super Cup and taking the final four abroad.

The Super Cup with a final=four held abroad, the entry of League teams into the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup, and the playing of semi-finals in a single match are among the proposals presented by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) at the Portuguese Football Congress in the City of Football.

We clearly feel, with the increased competitive density, that we have a responsibility to protect the clubs in the League, who will now enter the Portuguese Cup in the fourth round,” said Óscar Tojo, the National Technical Director of the FPF.

This Friday, the possibility of expanding the Campeonato de Portugal = the fourth division = from 56 to 64 clubs, divided into four series = each with 16 teams = was also raised. In this system, the winner of each group would be promoted to Liga 3, while five teams from each series would be relegated to district football.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) intends to standardize the format of national competitions for under=14, under=17, and under-20 categories, as well as restructure the under=23 competitions.
