The Porto Football Association (AF Porto) has temporarily suspended matches in the Carlos Alberto League, the youth league championship, following complaints from parents and clubs regarding the poor conditions at the sports venues.

The AF Porto board confirmed the decision through a statement addressed to affiliated clubs, SADs, SDUQs (Single-Member Limited Sports Companies) and referees. All matches are suspended until a final decision is made on the matter, it reads. Matches scheduled for February 21st are therefore cancelled. 

The decision follows concerns expressed by the clubs regarding the lack of adequate conditions in the sports venues. The association, led by José Manuel Neves, has scheduled an online meeting with its affiliated clubs for next Wednesday, the 18th, to analyze the format of the Carlos Alberto League.

According to the most recent information on the official page, the AF Porto Carlos Alberto League has 410 registered teams and approximately 3,500 athletes in the under-9, under-8, under-7, and under-6 age groups.
