Arsenal’s Luis Muñoz became the youngest player to play in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday. The 13-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s 4-2 victory against Bayern Munich.

In the other matches of the day, Benfica and Sporting secured qualification for the Round of 32 of the competition.

Born on December 18, 2011, the athlete – aged 13 years, 11 months and 15 days – entered the game in the 85th minute. He therefore surpassed Liam Payas, who played for Lincoln Red Imps at 14 years, three months and one day in September 2024.

Emerson Nwaneri, brother of Ethan Nwaneri (who plays for the first team), also came on in the 85th minute, making his Youth League debut at 15 years old.

In the same game, Max Dowman shone, scoring twice (38th minute and 90+6th minute). The 15-year-old attacking midfielder, who is the youngest ever to score in the Youth League, has already played five games for the Gunners’ first team this season.

Arsenal won there, but finished 30th in the League stage with three points. Only the top 22 secure a place in the next stage. Ten clubs qualified from the third qualifying round of the Champions Path, in which FC Porto faces Betis this afternoon , join them . Bayern Munich is 31st, also with three points.
