Experienced Spanish center-back bids farewell to Monterrey after defeat against Toluca, Paulinho’s team.
Shortly after Monterrey’s elimination in the Apertura semi-finals against Toluca, featuring Paulinho, Spanish international Sergio Ramos confirmed the end of his time with the Mexican club.
“I’ve already made it quite clear. Yes, it was my last game in Mexico,” the 39-year-old centre-back assured TUDN. Sergio Ramos, who even scored a goal from a penalty, also left a message on social media. “We are sad, but with a clear conscience knowing that we gave everything on the field. It’s time to learn, get up and know that this is also part of football. The biggest regret is not having given the fans another final, as they are the ones who deserve it most,” he wrote on Ramos scored eight goals in 34 games for Monterrey. With his contract expiring, the former Sevilla, Real Madrid, and PSG player will be a free agent.
