The lawsuit filed by U. Leiria, Felgueiras and Vizela falls through.

The precautionary measure presented by União de Leiria, Felgueiras and Vizela regarding UEFA’s solidarity mechanism was deemed inadmissible by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). At issue is the rejection by six of the 18 sports clubs in the Liga (second division) regarding the distribution of funds from UEFA, which prevents the sports clubs of the Liga NOS from sharing among themselves a sum of more than 6 million euros.

Thus, the €12 million “cake” will now be divided only among the League’s clubs that do not participate in European competitions. Faced with this scenario, União de Leiria, Felgueiras and Vizela argued that the “unanimous decision of 2024 created a horizon of stability for the three-year period 2024-2027”. However, the TAD (Arbitration Court for Sport) deemed the “precautionary procedure unfounded”, highlighting that the decision taken in 2024 was limited to the 2024/25 season and adding that the team rosters in the Liga and II Liga change every season.
