The 39-year-old midfielder could return to Estudiantes de La Plata.

Enzo Pérez’s future does not lie with River Plate. After being eliminated by Racing , the season for the “millionaires” has come to an end. And with that, the farewells have also arrived.

The former Benfica player is one of the players who will no longer wear the Buenos Aires club’s jersey, River Plate officially announced this Friday.

According to the Argentinian newspaper Olé, the 39-year-old midfielder could return to Estudiantes, a club that is embroiled in controversy after the game against Rosario Central , where Di María played.

If he returns, it will be Enzo’s fourth spell at the La Plata club, having previously worn their colors between 2008-11, 2012 and 2024. A product of Godoy Cruz’s youth system, the Argentinian international also represented Benfica and Valencia in Europe.

He returned to Argentina in 2017 to play for River Plate, where he spent eight seasons. In the current season, Enzo, who often wore the captain’s armband, was an option in 38 matches.
