Real Madrid couldn’t overcome Sotriano’s lone goal and remain four points behind Barcelona.

Not all the news has been good for Real Madrid in recent days. After securing passage to the Champions League round of 16, Los Blancos hosted and lost to Getafe 1-0 , and the team laughing all the way to the bank… is Barcelona.

The first half was marked by a great balance in terms of goalscoring opportunities, with the only team to show effectiveness in front of goal being the visitors. Taking advantage of some passivity near the area, Martin Satriano volleyed home a truly spectacular goal at the Bernabéu.

This narrow lead remained unchanged until halftime, and Arbeloa ended up making three substitutions in the opening minutes of the second half. Of particular note was the return to competition of Rodrygo, who hadn’t played a single minute since February 1st.

Contrary to what had happened until then, Real Madrid gave their opponent no chance in any aspect except the most important one. Notable among these was the straight red card shown to Manstantuono for words directed at the referee, and another to Adrian Liso, this time for accumulating yellow cards. Getafe held on to the 1-0 lead as best they could until the final whistle, confirming the scandal at the Bernabéu. Real Madrid let Barcelona pull away in the lead of La Liga , now four points behind the Catalans, who this round beat Villarreal (4-1). Getafe, meanwhile, occupies 11th place in the table, with an eight-point safety margin in the fight to avoid relegation.
