Gil Vicente’s coach analyzes the draw against Sporting and discusses the club’s stance in the transfer market.

César Peixoto, in statements made during the flash interview on SportTV, after the 1-1 draw bet

Analysis of the draw against Sporting

It was a difficult game against a good team. The first half was very tactical, with both teams very organized. When we were doing well in the game, we ended up conceding a goal. We went into halftime with the game balanced, and the team was stronger in the second half. We pressed high for almost the entire second half. We closed down spaces very well, and after the sending-off, we believed even more. We scored a goal, and we could have scored the winning goal, which wouldn’t have been bad for us. This is our DNA, we don’t change, and I’m very proud of my players. It was proven today that, regardless of the result and the opponent, we had the character to go for more.

Greater risk after Inácio’s expulsion.

When I saw the sending=off, I took more risks, bringing on two forwards, and we were fortunate. We needed more presence in the box, and the team believed. I’m happy for Carlos, who went through a rough patch and ended up scoring an important goal. We risked everything looking for the win and to score another goal; it was close. The important thing is the collective, with a team that believes, works hard, and knows what to do with and without the ball. We always play the same way, looking for another goal.

I have a clear conscience; I know the work we’re doing. Our project isn’t just about results, although of course they’re important and are the lever for the club’s growth, but I know that increasing the value of the players is also important. We did a good job in the transfer market; we have two players per position, and it’s natural that the players increase in value. Internally, we know the path we have to take. I’m not worried about whether someone else will leave or not. We have to forge our own path, and increasing the value of the players is part of that. This is the way we are and live day=to=day; the results are there for all see.
