The only goal of the match was scored just two minutes in, by Scott McTominay. In a very confusing play in the area, after a corner kick from the right, the ball fell to the Scotsman who managed to put it into the net.

With this victory, Napoli has now won four consecutive matches and temporarily overtakes Milan for second place in the standings with 62 points. Cagliari, meanwhile, remains in 15th place with 30 points.
