Jaime Faria has reached the second round of the Australian Open for the second consecutive time, after defeating Belgian Alexander Blockx in four sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4) after almost two and a half hours of play.

In a balanced duel, the Portuguese tennis player, who arrives in Melbourne ranked 151st in the world, hit more winners (36 against 32) and fewer unforced errors (37 against 42), proving lethal in the decisive moments of the match.

After coming through the qualifying rounds, Jaime Faria advances to the second round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, where he will face the winner of the match between Matteo Arnaldi (65th) and Andrey Rublev (13th).

As for Nuno Borges (ranked 46th), he is scheduled to make his debut in the 2026 Australian Open early Monday morning against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (ranked 8th).
