Versatile Sp. Braga player hopes the team can win a title this season.
Vítor Carvalho expressed his hope that Sp. Braga will win a title this season and stressed that the objective is to have a better second half of the season in the league than the first.
My wish for 2026? That Braga always wins and that we can lift a title because that’s what makes a mark and goes down in history, said the Brazilian player at the end of Wednesday’s training session, which was open to the public.
The Minho team occupies fifth position in the League, just one point behind fourth=placed Gil Vicente, but they are already 10 points behind Benfica third, 15 behind Sporting second and 20 behind FC Porto first.
Asked if the most realistic goal would be to try for fourth place, Vítor Carvalho replied: If we only look at the championship, we are a little far from our goal at the beginning of the season, but that doesn’t erase what we have done in these six, seven months, since the coach Carlos Vicens started working.
We are ‘alive’ in all competitions, in the League Cup and the Portuguese Cup and doing well in the Europa League. We want to continue on our path and we have the entire second half of the season to do better than in the first, that is the main objective, he concluded.
A natural midfielder, the 28-year-old has been regularly used as a central defender by Carlos Vicens.
As I said, if the coach gives me the gloves, I’ll go in goal. I want to play and help. I’m happy to play center back, I think I’ve been putting in good performances and the most important thing is to keep playing and playing well, he said.
Vítor Carvalho was speaking at the end of the training session open to the public, which concluded the year 2025, at the Amélia Morais Stadium, and which was attended by around 2,000 Arsenal supporters .
“It’s great to have this affection from the fans, to be closer to them. What the club did on the last day of the year, allowing them to watch a training session, was very interesting. I hope this can be repeated more often because football belongs to the fans too. They are part of the spectacle and bring magic to this sport,” he said.
Sp. Braga will face Estrela da Amadora in the next round , the 17th and final round of the first half of the Liga season. The match will be played on Saturday 6:00 PM in Reboleira.
