Germany: Grimaldo scores, but Leverkusen is thrashed by Stuttgart

Saturday’s German league action ended with a surprise. Stuttgart, with Tiago Tomás, thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 away . However, the former Sporting player was absent due to injury.

In another game that day, Fábio Vieira started in Hamburg’s defeat . 

Jamie Leweling was the star of the match. The German international opened the scoring (7th minute) and scored again before halftime (45th minute). Max Mittelstadt also scored for Stuttgart from the penalty spot (29th minute). 

Even before halftime, Deniz Undav made it 4-0 in stoppage time (45+2m).

In the second half, Álex Grimaldo, formerly of Benfica, reduced the deficit with a penalty (66th minute). However, the score remained unchanged.

With this resounding victory (4-1), Stuttgart moves up to fifth place with 29 points. Bayer Leverkusen is fourth, also with 29 points.
