Formula 1: Chris Horner in negotiations to own Alpine.

The former Red Bull team principal left Formula 1 in July of this year and is now looking to return in a big way.

Chris Horner is in negotiations to become the new owner of Alpine, after leaving his position as team principal of Red Bull in July of this year.

According to  De Telegraaf , Horner intends to return to Formula 1 in a “front door” and is considering the possibility of becoming a shareholder in the team. The Renault Group holds a majority stake in Alpine, and the same source indicates that, along with some partners, Chris Horner would buy part of the shares from Otro Capital (an American investment fund).

This is not the first time that the former Red Bull team principal has been linked to another team . Before Adrian Newey took on the same role at Aston Martin, Chris Horner’s name was considered for the CEO position.

Now, Alpine appears to be Horner’s chosen destination, and it should be noted that the French team does not have a team principal, as Oliver Oakes is leaving.
