Former Sporting player suspected of sexual assault against Teena..

Former footballer Leandro Machado, who played for Sporting between 1997 and 1998, is being investigated by the Civil Police of the state of Santa Catarina on suspicion of having committed a sexual crime.

The victim will be a teenager, according to the Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte. Leandro was dismissed from his position as municipal secretary of Sports in Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, the city where he was born, in Greater Florianópolis. 

The dismissal occurred on January 31st, a year after he took office. Machado, 59, wore the Brazilian national team jersey twice, having played for clubs such as Flamengo, Internacional, and Santos.
