The Brazilian press had reported a stalemate due to salary disagreements, but the truth is that both sides ended up reaching an agreement for the coach who led the team to win the Brasileirão and the Libertadores to stay for two more seasons, until 2027.
“The positive outcome was only possible because there was, on both sides, a genuine desire for the project to continue, as well as a joint willingness to converge interests and build a balanced and sustainable agreement that met the coach’s aspirations, but also the club’s established governance policies, declared José Boto, the club’s executive director of football.
