Fans will be able to follow the teams’ progress during the games.

FIFA has announced that the world rankings for national teams, in both men’s and women’s football, will now be updated in real time during international matches.

The measure, considered “innovative” by the organization, will allow fans to follow the provisional changes in the standings as goals are scored in matches around the world.

The new rule will debut in the men’s international matches in March, while in women’s football it will come into effect in the next international window, in April.

According to FIFA, the rankings will be automatically adjusted based on verified data from each match, while maintaining the same calculation formula currently used.

Despite continuous updates, the figures presented during the matches will be provisional, becoming official only after the conclusion of all matches in the respective international transfer window. Final confirmation will then be released through the official channels of the world football governing body.
