Enzo Maresca’s successor shows confidence in his abilities.

Liam Rosenior is confident he will succeed as Chelsea manager. In his first press conference in his new role, Liam Rosenior echoed José Mourinho: “I’m not arrogant, I’m good at what I do,” he said.

The 41-year-old coach will lead the team for the first time against Charlton on Saturday, in the third round of the FA Cup. He comes from Strasbourg, a French club owned by BlueCo, the group that owns both clubs.

In all the jobs I’ve had, whether as an interim manager, assistant coach, or head coach, I’ve been successful with the groups I’ve worked with. I always wanted to be at a club like this, but it’s not just about being here, it’s about being successful. Nobody can guarantee wins, but at the same time, I’ve worked very hard for a long time to try and put myself in a position where I could be successful, he explained.

When I joined Strasbourg, they said I was a joke. They said my team would finish last, that it was an impossible project, that the players were too young, too inexperienced, and that I was an unknown from England. We finished three points away from the Champions League. The outside noise is just noise, Rosenior explained. Liam has signed a contract with Chelsea until 2032, an unusually long term for a manager. Before Strasbourg, the Englishman played for Hull City, Derby County and Brighton (youth teams), following a career as a footballer.
