CA’s assessment of the refereeing in the Benfica=Sporting match.

The refereeing team led by António Nobre, in the Benfica-Sporting match of the 13th round of the League, received a satisfactory rating, while the video refereeing work, which had Rui Costa assisted by Paulo Brás, received a “very satisfactory” rating, the highest possible evaluation given in these assessments by the Arbitration Council (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

In the ratings for the 13th round, released this Friday, almost all were given a “satisfactory” rating, with the exception of the “very satisfactory” rating for VAR in the derby and the ratings for Estrela=Arouca.

In the Reboleira game, the work of João Gonçalves’ refereeing team was “unsatisfactory,” contrasting with the “very satisfactory” performance of the VAR, which was overseen by Cláudia Ribeiro, assisted by Carlos Campos. It’s worth remembering that Alex Pinto and Taichi Fukui, players for Arouca, were sent off, but only after VAR review, following an alert to referee João Gonçalves.

The Portuguese Football Federation’s (FPF) Arbitration Committee (CA) publishes, matchday by matchday, its assessment of the refereeing teams using a metric of “very satisfactory,” “satisfactory,” and “unsatisfactory,” and “this measure is part of the national refereeing transparency policy,” according to the FPF. These assessments are published up to two weeks after each matchday.
