Pape Gueye’s bis paved the way for Senegal’s triumph.

Senegal is the first team to secure a place in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter=finals. Against Sudan, the Senegalese won (3-1) with a brace from Pape Gueye. 

Senegal, the leader of Group D with seven points, faced Sudan, third in Group E with three points. It was the Sudanese team that took the lead in the match.

Aamir Abdallah, a 26=year=old midfielder, opened the scoring in the sixth minute. However, Senegal’s comeback began in the first half. Pape Gueye, from Villarreal, scored twice (29th minute) and (45+3rd minute) to give the Senegalese the lead. 

In the second half, PSG forward Ibrahim Mbaye came on in the 74th minute and needed just three minutes to seal the final 3-1 score (77th minute).

With this result (3-1), Senegal advances to the quarterfinals of the competition. They await the winner of the match between Mali and Tunisia. Sudan, in turn, is eliminated from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
