The Portuguese coach will explain his departure at a press conference.

It’s now official: Leonardo Jardim is no longer the coach of Cruzeiro, as Maisfutebol had already announced this morning. A day after being eliminated from the Brazilian Cup in a penalty shootout against Corinthians, the club confirmed the departure of the Portuguese coach.

“Cruzeiro informs that coach Leonardo Jardim will not continue as head coach of the team in the 2026 season. Along with Jardim, assistants José Barros, António Vieira, and Diogo Dias are also leaving the club,” the Belo Horizonte club wrote in a statement published on social media.

The resignation was reportedly requested by Leonardo Jardim himself, who will speak to journalists at a press conference scheduled for late afternoon this Monday.

“We are grateful for all the dedication, commitment and professionalism during the year. We wish the professionals much success in their future careers. The coach will speak through a press conference, this Monday (15), at 1 pm, at Toca da Raposa II”, Cruzeiro also wrote.
