A 3-2 victory before hosting Arsenal.

Before hosting Arsenal for the Champions League, Atlético de Madrid won at home against Athletic Bilbao ( 3-2 ) this Saturday, in a match of the 32nd round of the Spanish League .

The Basques even went into halftime with a lead, thanks to a goal from Aitor Paredes in the 23rd minute, with a precise header following a corner.

However, Atlético Madrid had a great start to the second half and, within five minutes, turned the game around.

Antoine Griezmann equalized in the 49th minute and Alexander Sorloth scored the winning goal in the 54th minute, making it 2-1.

Sorloth scored his second goal in stoppage time, at 90+3 minutes. After a pass from Nahuel Molina, the Norwegian striker ran several meters and fired the ball into Unai Simon’s net.

Even at the final whistle, with another accurate header, Gorka Guruzeta (90+7m) reduced the deficit for the Basques.

The downside for Atlético de Madrid was Pablo Barrios’ injury, which occurred before the game was even over.

Diego Simeone’s team remains in fourth place with 60 points, two less than Villarreal, who have a game in hand. Athletic, meanwhile, are ninth with 41 points, three points away from the European places.

Also on Saturday, with André Almeida as a substitute, Valencia hosted and beat Girona 2-1 .

Largie Ramazani (50m) and Umar Sadiq (59m) scored the goals for the  che team, while Joel Roca (63) scored for the visitors.

Valencia provisionally moves up to 11th place (39 points), while Girona is 14th (38).
