Former Nigerian national team striker Michael Eneramo has died. The NFF, the football federation of that African country, announced the death of the 40-year-old former forward on Friday. Eneramo collapsed and died on the field in Kaduna province during a local friendly match in which he had played the entire first half. According to the same source, he suffered a cardiac arrest five minutes into the second half.Eneramo was a native of that province. He played ten games for the Nigerian national team between 2009 and 2010. 

This is devastating. I am speechless at this moment. I can only pray that God grants him eternal rest and also grants his loved ones and the Nigerian football family the strength to bear this loss, said NFF Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi, quoted on the organization’s website. 

The forward shared a locker room with Portuguese players Hugo Almeida and Manuel Fernandes in 2013, while playing for Besiktas. He also had spells at other Turkish clubs such as Basaksehir and Sivasspor, and stood out at Esperance Tunis in Tunisia.
