Botafogo, coached by Portuguese manager Franclim Carvalho, took the lead in the Round of 32 of the Brazilian Cup on Tuesday after beating Chapecoense 1-0 at home, with a goal from Alex Telles.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian international and former FC Porto left=back settled the first=leg tie with a precise shot in stoppage time, at 90+1 minutes.
This was Carvalho’s third consecutive victory since joining Botafogo, and he remains undefeated after five games with the Brazilian national team.
The second leg is scheduled for May 14th in Chapeco.
