Benfica’s forward discusses the future, reveals who his biggest critic is, and talks about Jose Mourinho.

Vangelis Pavlidis discussed his move from AZ Alkmaar to Benfica and also spoke about Jose Mourinho and his future after leaving the club, in an interview with Fosonline.

Regarding his move to Portugal, the Benfica striker says it was a well=considered decision, driven above all by the size of the club. AZ Alkmaar? I’ve worked very hard over the last five years and now I’m lucky to be at a huge team like Benfica, but also because I previously played for Alkmaar, an attacking team that helped me develop. Benfica was where I wanted to go and I believed it was the best decision of my career, as it has proven to be,” he began by saying.

I need to see in the future what I can do best for myself and my career.”

Next, Pavlidis reveals that his choice of Benfica was not based on the quality of the league, but rather on the size of the club.

My decisions aren’t based on leagues. I had other offers before Benfica, but I decided to go to Portugal. I didn’t choose Benfica because of the league, but because of the club’s size. That’s what weighed on my choice. I need to see what I can do best for myself and my career in the future. As in the past, it was never the financial aspect that made my choice. And that won’t happen now either. My decision was and always will be competitive, and Benfica offered me a better plan. I knew I would be playing in the Champions League and fighting for titles, he added.
