The former Benfica player’s agent assures that everything is resolved between the player and the club.
Enzo Fernández has made peace with Chelsea. The Argentine international and his agent, Javier Pastore, have apologized to the London club’s management for their recent statements to the press.
The former Benfica player was suspended by the club for two games for comments he made during the international break, when he admitted he would like to live in Madrid . Given the uncertainty surrounding Enzo’s future, the midfielder’s statements were seen as an expression of interest in playing for Real Madrid.
Later, Enzo’s agent considered the punishment “unfair” and raised the possibility of a transfer after the World Cup . Now, the former PSG player has clarified that everything is resolved.
“He made those statements without any intention of causing problems for Chelsea. He is the captain, one of the team leaders, and he has shown his best version on the field this season. He only spoke about a city. Then, there were many interviews in a short period of time in which he talked about his future. The press confused many things and started saying that he was going to leave Chelsea. There is absolutely nothing to it,” said Pastore, in statements to Top Mercato.
We are in agreement with Chelsea. We have made peace between Chelsea and the player. There was never really any problem. We clarified the facts. What happened, happened. We explained to the player that, even though he did nothing wrong, he shouldn’t have said that. He is only 25 years old. He is still young, he still has things to learn. We explained to the club that he said it without malice, but that it was wrong. Naturally, he apologized to the club, his teammates, the coach, the sporting director, everyone. We are all on the same page. We just needed to resolve the misunderstanding.
It should be noted that Enzo already served his suspension in Chelsea’s thrashing of Port Vale (7-0) last Saturday in the FA Cup. The former Benfica midfielder will also miss the home game against Manchester City, scheduled for next Sunday.
