The Portuguese coach has a contract until the end of 2026, but has not confirmed whether he will stay.

Leonardo Jardim has not confirmed that he will fulfill his contract with Cruzeiro, which is valid until the end of 2026, but he announced, in statements to CNN Brasil, that he has already communicated his decision to the club’s president, Pedro Lourenço.

“I have a very good relationship with my president. I have a very strong friendship and affinity with him. He knows very well what I think and what I want for my life. I’ve never hidden anything,” the Portuguese coach emphasized, without, however, giving any clues as to his future.

Cruzeiro was formally eliminated from the Brasileirão title race last Sunday , but will still compete in the Taça do Brasil semi-finals against Corinthians.

“We are totally focused on the end of the Brazilian Championship and the Cup semifinals. After that, we will think about the future (…). Regarding everything that will happen in 2026, a very Brazilian saying: everything that will be the future belongs to God,” he further emphasized.

We recall that Leonardo Jardim arrived at Cruzeiro in February 2025 and, since then, has managed 51 games, winning 25 of them. Despite being eliminated early from the Copa Sudamericana, the Portuguese coach kept Cruzeiro among the top four in the Brasileirão throughout the season, securing qualification for the next edition of the Copa Libertadores, and is now preparing for the two semi-final matches of the Cup against Corinthians.
