Diogo Costa: National team? That’s something we have to evaluate

FC Porto’s goalkeeper highlighted the Dragons’ fighting spirit in their 2-1 victory over Sp. Braga, but did not reveal whether he is physically fit to represent Portugal.

Diogo Costa, FC Porto player, in a Flash Interview on Sport TV, after the 2-1 victory against Sp. Braga , in a match counting towards the 27th round of the League:

Historically difficult terrain

“It’s always very difficult to play here. Historically, in the last eight games, we’ve only won one. We knew that Sp. Braga plays good football, they have a great attitude in their game, but today the secret was in who came on. That proves that we are all focused on what really matters, and that is our strength.

Team rotation

“The manager has confidence in everyone. We all work hard, we demand that from each other too, and this is proof of that – those who came on made the difference in the game, and they deserve congratulations.”

Do Farioli’s celebrations indicate that the title is within reach?

“I only know that the manager isn’t focused on that. I think it was just for the celebration. He’s a very demanding manager, he always wants more, he wants everyone to train well, and that demand has brought quality to our game, but the focus isn’t there. I think that’s the secret, but, as I said, there’s also this rotation that the manager has been doing, and credit to all the players: we’re all involved, and that’s very important.

Could the championship still slip away?

“I believe this victory is very important because it was the game we played today. Now, the next game is to win and, as we said at the beginning, we have to look at it game by game. As for the title… many things can happen that we might regret, so let’s not think about that yet. We want much more than this.”

Pain and the National Team

As everyone knows, it was a difficult week. I played at my limit, but, as I’ve always said, I’m always willing to suffer for the team, for FC Porto, and also on an individual level. But that’s something we have to evaluate to make that decision.

Praise from Farioli

Honestly, I try to close my ears. I don’t want it to go to my head. I’m addicted to success and that’s what I’m focused on.
