Renato Veiga’s Villarreal defeats Goncalo Guedes’ Real Sociedad

Villarreal hosted and defeated Real Sociedad 3-1 in a match counting towards the 29th round of the Spanish league.

The game featured two Portuguese players in the starting lineup, Renato Veiga for the home team and Gonçalo Guedes for the visiting team.

The “Yellow Submarine” almost settled the match in less than 25 minutes. Moreno (7m), Mikautadze (15m) and Nicolas Pépé (23m) built a comfortable lead early in the first half.

In the second half, Real Sociedad pulled one back through Sucic (47th minute), but the Croatian’s goal was not enough to avoid defeat.

With this result, Villarreal moves up to third place in the standings with 58 points, 20 more than their Basque rivals, who are in seventh place.
