Portuguese forward shines in epic comeback against Fluminense. Josué, from Coritiba, also wins, while Sao Paulo, with Cedric Soares, loses its sole lead.

Nuno Moreira scored his first goal of the season in the early hours of Thursday morning, in the epic home win against Fluminense (3-2). The Portuguese winger = formerly of Casa Pia = played the full 90 minutes and made his 14th appearance of the season.

Although Fluminense built their lead through midfielder Canobbio and full-back Hércules, who scored in the 1st and 54th minutes respectively, Vasco da Gama’s reaction was led by Nuno Moreira, who reduced the deficit in the 59th minute. Between substitutions, forward Spinelli equalized in the 88th minute, while midfielder Thiago Mendes completed the comeback in the 90+5th minute. Thus, Vasco da Gama climbed to 10th place, with eight points, three ahead of the relegation zone . Next up is a home game against Luís Castro’s Grêmio (8th), on Sunday (7 pm). Meanwhile, Fluminense remains in fourth place, with 13 points, three behind leaders São Paulo and Palmeiras.

In reaction to Palmeiras’ victory in the sixth round of the Brasileirao , Sao Paulo lost away to Atletico Mineiro, with Hulk’s only goal coming from defender Román in the 64th minute. For Sao Paulo, Portuguese player Cedric Soares entered the game in the 83rd minute. While Sao Paulo allowed Palmeiras to tie them for the lead, Atletico Mineiro climbed to 11th place with eight points. Sao Paulo plays Palmeiras on Sunday (midnight).

Finally, Mirassol, with midfielder Gabriel Pires (formerly of Benfica) and forward Tiquinho Soares (formerly of FC Porto and Vitória de Guimarães), was defeated at home by Coritiba, who brought on midfielder Josué (formerly of FC Porto) in the 79th minute. By that time, the scoring had already been opened in favor of Coritiba by forward Lavega (64th minute).

This outcome leaves Coritiba in fifth place with 13 points, seven more than Mirassol (15th).
