Dutch midfielder leaves Feyenoord

Marseille officially announced on Friday the signing of midfielder Quinten Timber, formerly of Feyenoord.

The Dutch international arrives in France after three and a half seasons at Feyenoord. His departure from the Rotterdam club is marked by a disagreement with coach Robin van Persie, although both have assured that the matter has been resolved. The coach had taken the captain’s armband from the 24=year=old player and criticized his attitude in training, which prompted a reaction from Timber to the press.

Timber, who had played 24 games this season (three goals and five assists), signed until 2030 with Marseille, the third-placed team in the French league.

According to international press, the deal was closed for just 4.5 million euros (plus bonuses) because the Dutch midfielder’s contract was due to expire in June.
