Eagles prevail over Desp. Chaves (1-0) and secure their fourth victory in the last six games.

Benfica B hosted and defeated Desp. Chaves 1-0 , thus confirming their (provisional) rise to sixth place in the Second League and their fourth victory in the last six games of the competition.

In Seixal, Benfica dominated virtually the entire match, and the first half was marked by a complete lack of opportunities for Chaves, who went into halftime with ten men. Ktatau received a straight red card, further condemning Desp. Chaves to a second half of suffering as they tried to contain their opponent’s offensive.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, and Nélson Veríssimo’s team tried everything to score, but it only came at the final whistle, after the 90th minute (90+4). The goalkeeper couldn’t hold onto the first shot, and the ball fell to João Fonseca, who tapped it in for 1-0. During the celebrations, the centre-back took off his shirt and, having already received a yellow card, was shown a red card for accumulating two yellow cards.

This result brings Benfica B closer to the top of the table, which continues to be led by Marítimo, although the teams occupying those positions have not yet played in this round.
